'Maid to Order' big hit for Superior drama students

In Superior, parents and community members were treated to an evening of dinner and theatre thanks to the Superior Drama Department, taught by Angie Christiaens. First patrons enjoyed a prime rib dinner followed by the play “Maid to Order” written by Matthew Begbie March 24 and 25.
This funny farce began with a wealthy widow, Marcy Malliger (Elaine Parsons), expecting her beau for dinner, which means she expects nothing less than perfection from her household staff. Her disgusting son, Gerald (Matt Buchanan), who is 25 years old but still lives with his “mommy,” is attempting to put the moves on the maids, as usual. Sarah (Kaylee Cahalin), a recently hired maid, does her best to ignore his overtures so as not to lose her job. That’s when her brother, James (Ryan Cahalin), shows up, looking for a place to hide. He’s on the run from a loan shark who wants his money back, and certainly the mobster wouldn’t think to look for him at a mansion. But wouldn’t you know, Ms. Malliger’s beau who comes for dinner is the loan shark!
Sammi Francis was played Charles Cambin, Kayli Schoolcraft was Janice, Kim Parsons played Bethany, Clara Davis was Winnie Cambin and cops were Audrie Azure and Alise Ruthford. Emily Coleman and Emma Hopwood were on makeup, costume and props. Jerome Miller worked on props, and Skylar Simpson was on curtain, lights, and sound.
The play received rave reviews with Facebook posts stating, “This was truly one of the best plays I’ve been too, never stopped laughing. Elaine did a fabulous job, as did the whole cast.”
“It was absolutely hilarious,” commented another.
