Mineral County suffers power outage due to storm

Strong winds, rain and hail descended on Mineral County on Friday, April 7, knocking power out in the county from Alberton to Lookout Pass.

Northwestern Energy spokesman Butch Larcombe reported that more than 3,000 people were without power. A tree fell on a power line between Huson and Alberton around 12:30 p.m.

As a result, customers with Missoula Electric Cooperative also lost their power because Northwestern is their power supplier. Missoula Electric covers Petty Creek, the Tarkio area to the Superior airport. Northwestern covers Superior to the state line.

The tree was removed and wires repaired by 4 p.m. and most customers had their power returned. About 70 residents did not get back power restored until 6 p.m.
