Plains hosts softball tournament fundraiser
Players converged to the Wild Horse Sporting Complex over the weekend for the Plains Softball tournament.
There were six teams in total who took part in the two day competition.
Field 2 was the most colorful field on Saturday afternoon with CnD Vs Super Heroes.
“We came from Missoula, and we’re having a great time,” said Super Heroes player Keera Ackley.
Event organizers even got in on the tournament with Corey Ovitt playing for The Printery and Kim Bergstrom playing for Studs team.
Like any true softball tournament it was more about the game then the crowd. With players whom weren’t playing seemed to be spilt between the two fields cheering on their favorite team.
“We’re having an absolute ball,” said Ackley of her time at the tournament over the weekend.
“It’s always a great weekend and next year we are hoping it gets even bigger,” said Bergstrom. “We had a great number of teams, as we always do. A few returning teams, one new team which was fantastic.”
She also mentioned that even though the event is only in it’s third year, each year they always seem to gain a new team.
This year’s winning team was the Noxon team “Broke Bat,”
Like each year before, they get a tournament koozie and bragging rights.
All funds raised from the tournament are put right back into the sporting complex. They use the money mainly for upgrades and maintenances to the fields.
“All the teams helped give the event loads of momentum, we can’t wait to see how many teams we’ll get next year,” said Bergstrom.
