Lady Tigers off to good start at Western C tournament

The St. Regis Lady Tigers dominated play during the Western C Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown on Friday and Saturday with duel wins against Valley Christian and Darby.

The team has four seniors and Head Coach, Brooks Sanford has high expectations this year with an eye on the 14C District championship.

“The team is looking strong,” he said. “We learned to play with a lead last year and we learned to come from behind. We are a good passing team, we can shoot the ball and we defend well.”

The 10 player team consists of seniors Anna Sanford, Krystina Thompson, Justice Tate and Aly English. Juniors are Madison Kelly, Emma Hill and McKenzie Stortz along with sophomore Kylee Thompson, freshman Chloe Cielke, and eighth grader, Baylee Pruitt.

Assistant coaches are Tim Yeager and Jennifer Pruitt and Connor Dunlap is the team manager.

St. Regis Lady Tigers dominate Valley Christian 54 to 6

During the Friday afternoon game at the Western C Tip-Off Tournament in Frenchtown the St. Regis girls squared off against Valley Christian in their season opener. They started out with a bang and put 21 points up in the first quarter leaving the Lady Eagles in the dust with zero. They continued to pummel their opponents in the second quarter with 15 additional points and 10 in the third to the Eagles 2 and 4 points. In the final quarter they put up another 8 to the Eagles second game goose-egg of zero.

During play Baylee Pruitt started her varsity career leading the team with 18 points. Both Madison Kelly and Kylee Thompson put up 11. Emma Hill and Anna Sanford both had 6, and Chloe Cielke 2.

St. Regis girls played Darby with a Saturday win 55 to 26

St. Regis Lady Tigers continued their rampage on Saturday afternoon with a win against the Darby Tigers 55 to 26. St. Regis came out strong in the first quarter with 19 to 8. They continued their reign in the second quarter with 12 points shutting out Darby with zero. In the third quarter both teams put up 9 points and Darby had 9 points in the final quarter to St. Regis’ 15.

Both Madison Kelly and Baylee Pruitt led the team with 18 and 17 points respectively. Emma Hill had 10, Chloe Cielke and Kylee Thompson had 4 and McKenzie Stortz, 2.
