Marilyn May Becker

Marilyn May Becker, 83, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at Harborview Hospital in Seattle.

She was born in Wadena, Minnesota, to Zoa and Ervin Anderson. She was the youngest of nine children.

Marilyn served her community for 30 years as a registered nurse in the surgical services department at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. Following retirement, Marilyn relocated to Thompson Falls where she served her new community as an operating room nurse at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital, school nurse at the Trout Creek School and a volunteer ambulance nurse with the Thompson Falls Fire Department.

Marilyn’s life was one of service to her community, love of family, absolute joy of playing music and a love of new horizons witnessed through travel. Her beloved stories were of travels to China, Australia, New Zealand and almost every state in the U.S., including a courageous RV journey to the Arctic Circle. Marilyn loved playing the guitar and bass; she was a proud member of the Old Time Fiddler Association.

Marilyn is survived by her three children: daughter, Diane (Jerry) Barton; son, Robert (Theresa) Becker; son, James Becker; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandsons. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny; and her brothers and sisters, Leslie, Archie, Zella Morris, Leo, Verna, Amelia and Ervin.

Memorial services were held Dec. 9, 2017 at Independent Baptist Church in Ellensburg Washington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
