Welcome to Sanders County, Montana. Where bighorn sheep scale the rugged terrain and grizzly bears own the majestic peaks.

From the rolling hills that meet evergreen forests to our legendary fishing; our home is a true jewel.

Not only do we have some of Montana’s most beautiful country, but also some of the most diverse weather in the state. Home to several first-class communities including that of Sanders County.

A wonderful place to enjoy life, with the above mentioned just being few reasons why Sanders County is Montana’s best kept secret.

World-class views, Sanders County’s primary geological features lie along the meandering Clark Fork River.

Mountainous peaks with lush draws full of luminous cedar trees, and sage brushed prairies are encompassed by our unique landscape.

Also found among the matchless elegance of our county is the most abundant and diverse wildlife population in the Lower 48.

Elk herds, curious black bears and mountain lions call our forests home. However, Sanders County is also known for our bighorn sheep and grizzlies as well.

Geothermal hot springs provide a relaxing dip while soaking in the stunning scenery.

In addition to the natural beauty, Sanders County is home to several charming, safe communities. Thompson Falls, the county seat is nestled close to the Thompson Falls Dam, which provides clean, efficient energy.

Plains the site of the county’s only hospital, which recently was recognized as one of the top one hundred rural hospitals in America.

Trout Creek, one of the smaller communities, sitting on the shores of the Noxon Reservoir and is the home of a yearly National Bass Tournament.

Found within these unique communities is the abundance of outdoor activities. Locals and tourists alike enjoy kayaking, hiking, fishing ,boating, camping, hunting and many other adventures here in Sanders County.

Sanders County’s tight knit communities provide support for the local youth. This is evident by the well attended sporting events sponsored by the public schools.
