Mountain Cats tame the Tigers in boys and girls action

St. Regis suffered a double defeat as cross county rivals came face-to-face in the Alberton gym on Friday night. Both the Lady Tigers and the Lady Clark Fork Mountain Cats are at the top of their 14C and 13C Districts.

Turnovers were raging on the court as both teams battled for the ball but in the end the Lady Tigers couldn’t keep the Cats at bay with a defeat 53-22. In the first quarter the Cats put 8 points on the board to the Tiger’s 4. By the half they had a lead of 27-15 and St. Regis player, Baylee Pruitt, limped off the court with an injury.

The Cats had 14 points in both the third and fourth quarters and boxed out the Tiger’s with only 3 and four points in the final half of the game. Cat Kenzie Mueller was the game overall high scorer with 16 points. Teammate Madison Mask had 13, Madison Lommen 9, Hailey Kelly 8, Montanna Baughman 5, and Sophia Krutilla 2.

The Tigers’ high scorer was Madison Kelly with 9, Justice Tate 5, Baylee Pruitt 4, Anna Sanford 3 and Kylee Thompson 1.

During the boys games the Clark Fork Mountain Cats jumped over the Tigers with a hefty lead of 60 to 42 to put a “W” in the tally books. Both teams came out strong in the first quarter with St. Regis 16 to Cats 15. But during the second quarter the Cats pulled out all stops and dominated play with 22 to 3 points on the board making the half time score 37 to 19.

The remaining half of the game the teams remained neck-and-neck with the Cats’ 13 points in the third quarter to the Tigers’ 11 and another 10 points on the board in the fourth quarter to the Tigers’ 12. But the Tigers couldn’t overcome the second quarter lead and found defeat in the end. Tiger Ian Farris was the evening’s high scorer with 19 points. Teammate Nic Day had 8, Ryan Teeter 7, James Booker 4, Andrew Sanford 3 and Jacob Jasper 1.

Carson Callison was the Cat’s high scorer with 15 points. Freshman Aaron Waddle had 12, Bryan Mask 11, Korey Radford 8, Connor Voll 6, Michael Spence 5, Hewston Coon 2 and Danner Haskins 1 point.

Lady Tigers lose in Noxon, 42-33

Lady Tigers took a loss to the Red Devils on Saturday 42-33 in Noxon. The Tigers came out strong in the first half and were ahead 19 to 15. But the Red Devils came back strong in the second half and pulled out the win. Anna Sanford was the team’s high scorer with 9 points, Justice Tate had 8, Kylee Thompson 7, Emma Hill 6 and Madison Kelly 3.

St. Regis boys lose to Red Devils

The St. Regis boys basketball team lost to Noxon on the road on Saturday 52 to 24. Noxon came out strong in the first quarter putting 10 points on the board, then added 14 more points in each subsequent quarters. The Tigers had 5 in the first quarter, then 8, 4 and 7 points. Nic Day was the team’s high scorer with 14 points. James Booker had 5, Andrew Sanford 3 and Ian Ferris 2.

Cats take loss on road to Mullan

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats boys team lost to Mullan Idaho on Dec. 14 on the road 48-32. Mullan put up twice the points in the first quarter with 12 to 6. The Cats came back in the second quarter and had 9 points to Mullan’s 4 making the half-time score 16 to 15 with Mullan in the lead. In the third quarter Mullan put up 17 to the Cats 13 pulling into the lead with the final quarter a solid winning stretch putting 15 more points up to the Cats 4.

Michael Spence was high scorer with 10 points. Carson Callison and Connor Voll each had 8, Bryan Mask, Aaron Waddle and Korey Radford each has 2 points.

Cats victory over Genesis Prep 53-48

The Clark Fork Mountain Lady Cats won on the road against Genesis Prep, Idaho 53-48. The Cats came out strong putting 18 points on the board to Genesis 7. By the half the Cats were ahead 34 to 16. In the second half of the game Genesis Prep came back and put up 32 more points to the Cats 19 but it wasn’t enough to solidify the win.

Hailey Kelly had team high score with 13 points. Madison Mask had 12, Madison Lommen 11, Margaret Parkin 8, Kenzie Mueller 7, Sophia Krutilla had 2.

Wrestling

Trey Green wins Glyn Brawley Classic championship

Nine teams traveled to Corvallis on Saturday to compete at the Glyn Brawley Classic. The Mountain Cats placed eighth with 50 points. Trey Green from Superior won in the 170 lb. championship round against Derrik Gasvoda from Corvallis. Teammate, Wesley Buchannen won third place against Jerritt Messer from Sentinel in the 126 lb. round.
