Sanders County residents can get excited as Missoula International Airport is set to pick up two more direct routes.

Routes to Dallas and Chicago are all thanks to American Airlines.

American Airlines will begin their daily service from Dallas to Missoula on June 7, 2018. A daily summer seasonal service fromChicago to Missoula will also begin on that date.

U.S. Sen. Steve Daines applauded the airline for the two new additions when announced last week.

“More flights in and out of Missoula also means more choices for Montana families and more business and job opportunities in our state,” said Daines.

As well as the obvious extra for Sanders County residents to fly direct to more vacation destinations, Sen. Daines also pointed out the tourism bonuses for the area, and by extension Sanders County.

“Tourism is one of the Treasure State’s greatest economic drivers and now travelers from Dallas and Chicago will be just one stop away from everything Montana has to offer,” he said.

Cris Jensen the Airport Director for Missoula International Airport said, “We are thrilled to welcome American Airlines to Missoula and Western Montana.”

“These flights would not be possible without community support. They provide an excellent opportunity for travelers to access Dallas (DFW) and Chicago (ORD) with easy connections to international destinations and a new opportunity for the rest of the country and world to witness the beauty of Montana,” he added.
