On Thursday night in Superior, Class C, Clark Fork Mountain Cats challenged themselves with non-conference games against Class B, Thompson Falls. The Cats took a big loss, 70-30, as the boy’s faced their towering adversaries, with half the team over six foot tall, including six foot, five-inch McKenzie Holt. Cat eighth grader, Carson Callison at five feet, ten-inches, was no match during the game starting tip-off against Holt.

The Bluehawks flew through the game with a half-time score of 34-14, and sealed the deal in the fourth quarter putting up 22 points to the Cats 6. Taryn Ververis garnered four 3-pointers, and led the Cats with 12 points, followed by Bryan Mask with 10, both Callison and Nick Turnbull had 4 points each.

The Lady Cats couldn’t catch the Bluehawks in their matchup on Thursday night, with a loss of 45-35. It was seven’s across the board for the first three quarters of the Cats game, where the Class B Hawks put up 10 points in the first quarter, followed by 14 and eleven in the third. For the evening Cat Hailey Kelly had 8 points, Madison Mask and Emma Duboise each had 7 points, Kenzie Mueller and Montanna Baughman 4, Katharine Parkin 3, Margaret Parkin 2.

Top ranked Cats and Blackhawks square-off Friday

Top ranked Lady Mountain Cats squared off against undefeated Class C opponent Seeley-Swan on Friday night in Superior, with a 50-28 loss. It was Superior’s Senior Night, where team and band members were honored in between games with their parents.

Ten Lady Blackhawks teammates scored throughout the evening, with Cera Strumpfer and Tess Grimes leading with 10 points each. Kenzie Mueller led the Cats with 13 points, followed by Hailey Kelly with 10, Emma Dubois and Madison Mask with 2 and Montanna Baughman, 1.

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats boys varsity basketball faced Seeley-Swan with a loss of 50-27. The Blackhawks jumped to an early lead with a half-time score of 30-13. The Cats are 1-6 in league and 2-12 overall, Seeley-Swan is 5-2 in league and 8-5 overall. Nick Turnbull had a game high of 15 points, Bryan Mask and Michael Spence each had 5 and Rustan Lucas 2.

Lady Tigers roar over Noxon

The Lady Tiger’s roared over Noxon, 55-38, during Friday night’s matchup in St. Regis. The Tigers jumped to an early lead and solidified their win by the half with 27-14. Noxon kept pace in the third and fourth quarters putting up 10 and then 14 points to St. Regis’ 12 and 16. But it wasn’t enough to take the Tigers down. Madison Hill led the teams with 17 points, both Courtney Cheesman and Madison Kelly had 8, Emma Hill 9, Anna Sanford and Kylee Thompson each with 6 and Justice Tate 1.
