Two Eagle edges Clark Fork boys

Two Eagle River travelled to Superior from Pablo on Tuesday, Feb. 7 for a close 59-57 win in varsity boy’s basketball. The Clark Fork Mountain Cats took an early 15-6 lead in the first quarter. Clark Fork still had the lead at the half, 32-25. In the third quarter, the game tipped in the Eagles favor and they jumped ahead, putting 21 points up to the Cats 12. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, leaving Two Eagle with the win. Nick Turnbull and Michael Spence led Clark Fork with 13 points each while Bryan Mask and Carson Callison both had 11 and Drake Neill added two points.

Lady Cats dominate Two Eagle

The Lady Clark Fork Mountain Cats dominated Two Eagle River in Superior on Tuesday evening, 58-10. The Pablo team couldn’t catch the Cats as they jumped out to a 19 point lead in the first quarter. By the half, the score weighed heavily in the Lady Cats favor, 45-4. Samantha Clevenger had a game-high 17 points. Kenzie Mueller had 10, Madison Mask added eight, Hailey Kelly and Montanna Baughman both had five points while Kathryn Parkin, Hannah Calloway and Margaret Parkin each had two points.

Mountain Cats lose to Darby Tigers,

The Mountain Cats challenged the Darby Tigers on the road Friday night, but suffered a 65-54 loss. The Cats led at the half, 37-31, but dropped behind the Tigers in the third quarter, only putting four points up to Darby’s 14. The Tigers continued their winning pace into the fourth quarter, putting up another 20 points to the Cats 13. Nick Turnbull was team high-scorer for the Cats with 20 points, Michael Spence had 15, Bryan Mask 14, Carson Callison and Korey Radford each had two, and Taryn Ververis scored one.

Lady Cats trample Darby Tigers, 58-35

Once again, the Lady Cats trampled their opponents with a 58-35 win over Darby. The Cats came out strong in the first quarter to build a 17-9 lead. By the half, the Cats had 31 to the Tigers 21. The Cats continued their assault into the third and fourth quarters leaving the Tigers in the dust. Kenzie Mueller was game-high scorer with 20 points. Hailey Kelly had 12, Montanna Baughman scored eight, Madison Mask nine, Emma Dubois seven and Sophia Krutilla had two points.

St. Regis boys lose on the road at Hot Springs, 75-55

St. Regis traveled to Hot Springs on Friday, where the boys fell 75-55. Hot Springs sprang ahead in the first quarter, putting 20 points on the board to the Tigers 11. Both teams managed 20 points in the second quarter, with a half-time score of 40-31. In the third and fourth quarters, Hot Springs managed to put a few more baskets up for the win. Brock Cantrell-Field was team high scorer with 19 points. Trevor Lowry had 14, Eric Eslick 11, Brandon Managhan eight, Ian Ferris scored two and Nic Day had one point.

Lady Tigers spring over Hot Springs on the road, 58-32

The Lady Tigers picked up another victory in Hot Springs on Friday with a 58-32 win. The Tigers dominated the first quarter and built 22-6 lead. In the second quarter, Hot Springs tightened the gap, putting up 11 points to the Tigers 14. St. Regis pulled way out front in the third quarter with 16 to go up 52-26. Both teams had six points in the fourth quarter. Madison Hill had game-high with 19 points. Courtney Cheesman 10, Madison Kelly scored six, Emma Hill and Anna Sanford both had eight, Justice Tate scored four and Kylee Thompson added three points.

Clark Fork boys lose conference game

It was Senior Night in Alberton on Saturday, where the Clark Fork Mountain Cats squared off against Valley Christian from Missoula. It was Alberton’s lone senior, Nick Turnbull’s, final game on his home court. He was team high scorer with 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to pull out a win against the Eagles as Clark Fork fell, 69-32.

The Cats were still in the game at the half, down 32-23, but the Eagles soared ahead in the third quarter by putting an additional 23 points on the board to the Cats seven. Bryan Mask put up seven points, fellow senior Taryn Ververis had five, Michael Spence scored four, Carson Callison and Drake Neill had two points each and Korey Radford added one point.

Clark Fork girls win

The Clark Fork Lady Mountain Cats clobbered Valley Christian Eagles during Saturday’s matchup, 61-18. It was Alberton senior Rebecca Pluth’s final game and she added five points to the board. The Lady Cats came out swinging and had put 31 points up by the half to the Eagles 10. Kenzie Mueller had the game-high score of 17 points. Superior senior Emma Duboise had 11, Montanna Baughman, Hailey Kelly, and Samantha Clevenger all had seven, Sophia Krutilla scored five, Madison Mask had four and Margaret Parkin and Madison Courser each had two points.

St. Regis wins big on Senior Night

It was Senior Night in St. Regis Saturday, where the Tigers pulled out a win for the home town crowd against Lincoln, 59-56. It was the team’s lone senior Trevor Lowry’s final game on his home court, where he added five points to the final tally. Brock Cantrell-Field was game high scorer with 21 points. Eric Eslick had 15, both Brandon Managhan and Ian Ferris scored seven, and Nic Day had four.

Lady Tigers win

The Lady Tigers clawed a win out of the Lynx during this weekend’s game, 65-25. Madison Hill scored big on her final home court game as a senior with a game-high of 27 points. Fellow senior, Courtney Cheesman added another four to the score board. The Tigers had a strong lead after the first quarter, up 21-5. By the half, it was 34-14. Kylee Thompson had 14 points, Madison Kelly two, Emma Hill four, Anna Sanford seven, Justice Tate six and Grace Shope scored one.

Basketball district tourneys coming up

Districts for Class C basketball will be held on Feb. 16-18. Clark Fork will play in Frenchtown and St. Regis at Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.
