Superior's got talent!
Several girls sang backup as Superior sixth grader, Lorayna Pittsley sang, “Shut Up and Dance with Me.”
Fifth-graders Lucas Kovalsky, Logan Turner and Austin Seward did a hip-hop dance during the talent show to the crowd pleaser, “Whip and Nae-Nae.”

Elementary students took a seat on the gym floor as they cheered on their classmates during the Superior Talent show on Friday. Bailey Hansen entertained with the song, “One Call Away.”
Joey Wood called up an audience member and did a mysterious card trick.

T?he gym was alive with song, dance and more, during the Superior Elementary Talent Show held on Feb. 10. More than 30 students from grades three through six showed off their special abilities for their fellow classmates, parents and the public.
The show was hosted by the Elementary Student Council and there was also a bake sale before and after the show. Classmates walked in single line and took a seat on the floor, while parents and residents sat in a few rows of bleachers. The front of the stage had a white board and markers set up, a piano, and big screen for singers to follow along with karaoke style.
Several participants showcased their musical skills with third grader Qiana Terrell starting the show with a piano piece, “Love Somebody” as fellow students lined one wall of the gym waiting for their turn. Qiana’s performance was followed by Mekenna Greuter, who stepped up to the microphone to sing a song. She warned the audience that her head hurt, and said “I may not do as well as I usually do.” But Mekenna delivered with a great rendition of “Never Be Alone.”
There were a few more piano pieces by the third grade including Lane DiGiando with “Saints Go Marching In,” Danica Wilson’s “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” and Jade Hunter playing “Yankee Doodle.” Corey Ryan and Jenna Mellen took to the white board and painted a car and a horse. Ivy Turner and Koltynn Kelsey did some jump roping and Phin Cataldo shot some hoops.
Next up were the fourth graders, where Conor Toivonen and Trizten Avila entertained with 20 shots of basketball, followed by Owen Belcher, who did an interesting mime, complete with a costume featuring a white face and rosy cheeks. A couple of songs followed with Braelynn Mangold singing, “Fight Song,” and Bailey Hansen singing, “One Call Away.” Abby Wheeler played a piano piece, “Moonlight Sonata,” and Joey Wood called up an audience member and did a mystifying card trick. The poem, “Where the Sidewalk Ends,” was recited by Trina Azure and Caelen Pittsley drew a detailed truck on the white board.
Next were the fifth graders where Jaxson Green played “Go Tell Aunt Rhodie” on the trombone followed by Lanie Crabb playing “Arabian Nights,” on the bass clarinet. Next Kodi Kelly played, “Hot Cross Buns,” on the trumpet. Allison Wood and Olivia Greuter sang, “White Boots,” followed by Lucas Kovalsky, Logan Turner, and Austin Seward dancing to “Whip and Nae-Nae.”
Sixth-graders Trinity Lampen and Emily Kelsey sang “Stereo Hearts,” and a group of girls backed up Lorayna Pittsley as she sang, “Shut up and Dance with Me.” Everyone received a final round of applause for a job well done. As the performers lined up to exit the gym, several looked relieved as the show came to an end.
