Savage Heat win district consolation game, Noxon boys finish 1-2

The Hot Springs boys went 3-1 at the District 14C tournament in Pablo over the weekend to earn the consolation championship and a chance to challenge Plains for a trip to Divisionals in Butte this weekend.

The Hot Springs girls finished 1-2 at the tournament while the Noxon boys were also 1-2 and the Noxon girls lost two games.

The Savage Heat opened the tournament with a 59-44 win over Noxon in the opening round of the tournament Thursday as Trevor Paro scored 26 and Tyler Knudsen added 13.

A close game through three quarters, Hot Springs outscored the Red Devils 28-12 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win.

Along with Paro and Knudsenā€™s efforts, Pedro Guardemann scored nine, Blaine Carr had five and Addison Mueller, Sean Shea and Tyler Carr each scored Two.

Noxon was led by Quincy Grupenhoff with 12 points while Logan Wood scored eight, Ethan Hinrichsen and Aaron Brodmerkle each scored six, Cody Cable and Rylan Weltz each scored five and Alex Currie had two points.

The Savage Heat came up against eventual tournament champion Arlee in the semifinals Friday as the Warriors downed Hot Springs, 84-58. Blaine Carr led Hot Springs in the loss with 15 points while Marco Degel was also in double figures with 11.

Paro scored 29 and Gaurdemann added 17 Saturday morning as Hot Springs defeated St. Regis, 74-63 to advance to the consolation final.

Paro scored 31 and Blain Carr had 16 in the consolation final Saturday afternoon as the Savage Heat cruised to a 65-49 victory.

The Savage Heat were scheduled to face Plains in a challenge game Monday evening in Ronan for the right to make the trip to the divisional tournament in Butte this weekend. Game results were not available at press time.

The Lady Savage Heat fell to Plains in the opening round of the tournament Thursday, 60-43, as Stacy Gray scored 14 and Sydney Jackson added 11. McKennzie Cannon and Karly Lawson each scored six, Sage Jackson had three, Madisen Wheeler had two points and Brianna Gray scored one.

Hot Springs picked up a 41-17 win over Two Eagle River Friday before falling to Charlo Saturday, 38-26.

The Noxon boys picked up a 52-38 win over Two Eagle River in their second game of the tournament as Grupenhoff scored 13, Weltz had 12 and Wood was also in double figures with 10.

The Red Devils were eliminated from the tournament with a 62-47 loss to Charlo Saturday.

The Noxon girls were eliminated from the tournament in two games as they fell to Charlo, 40-34, and Plains, 64-49.
