Shirley J. Schierding Garr, 78

| February 22, 2017 4:28 PM

Saltese — Overcome by the joy of her Valentine’s Day present of new flooring, Shirley passed away at her new home in St. Regis on February 15th, 2017. Born September 19, 1938 in Metaline Falls WA to Will and Millie Schierding the family settled in Superior where she graduated from Superior HS. Shirley was preceded by her sisters Sylvia Parkin and Norma Parkin and leaves behind her beloved husband of 59 years Donal Garr. She has two children having forgot their names from a very young age, eldest daughter Dawn aka Sis; son Matty aka Matt Boy, Rusty, Scruffer and four grandchildren, Duane aka Dunker Man, Duane O; Davina aka Gooby; Gavyn aka Lil-G and Brayden aka Matt.

After retiring from her long accounting career Shirley directed the family antique storage warehouse and classic tin recycling facility from their home in Saltese. Renowned for their ability to HAVE or FIX anything Shirley and Don were inseparable and deeply loved each other. They could be found many a night in the local drinking establishments near their Saltese home hustling their many friends in a game of darts and pursuing the finer beers in life. Having raised her children on Happy Hill Road in Tum Tum WA she spent the past 18 years snowmobiling or 4-wheeling the LoLo forest and could be found upside down in the middle of the trail at a moment’s notice with tissues and candy bars for all. She leaves behind more friends than most people will ever know. Mom, Ma or Mother as she was called by those who loved her most will be greatly missed as she was loved by all those who had the honor of knowing her.

Growing a little bored later in life after 59 years of marriage the lovers decided more adventure was needed in their relationship. After one short flight in their GMC pickup they decided they went a little too far and were finally going to move off the mountain and settle down in the big town of St. Regis to spend more time with their wonderful extended family of friends. She was excited to get settled into their new home where she could focus more closely on her latest business adventure, distilled spirits manufacturing, most affectionately known by her closest friends as hooch. Shirley passed away doing what she loved, WORKING feverously up until the very end. She passed peacefully gazing out toward the Clark Fork River that flowed through the Montana countryside she so deeply loved. MOTHER you are greatly missed and we will love you forever.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday Feb, 24th from 5-8 pm at the O aces bar in DeBorgia, MT.
