A long-time business, Superior Color and Lumber, is moving to its new location on River Street.

Owner Robert Kraatz said the store will be closed the week of January 16 to move and then will reopen in its new location the following week.

Kraatz bought the business around 10 years ago and said the new location is a better retail space. With additional room, the store will be able to expand its merchandise line. The business sells hardware, paint and lumber, and the lumber will now be covered in the huge new facility on River Street.

Superior Color and Lumber also renovated the old Strand movie theater into its new office building, where the five paint and lumber business-office employees will work. The Superior paint store has been in business for a long time, said Kraatz. It used to operate out of the old Hilltop Hotel on Mullan Road.

“I appreciate all the support we’ve gotten over the years, and are happy that we’re able to grow the business,” said Kraatz. He said there will be an official grand opening later this spring.
