Fundraising efforts continue for 6-year-old Zaylee, who is fighting leukemia.

Teammates from the St. Regis Junior High Basketball team held a cake raffle and bake sale during Thursday’s girls varsity basketball game in St. Regis.

Despite being a little swollen from her medication, Kaylee’s 12-year-old sister, Karmen, said Zaylee was home and doing well. Karmen plays for the team. The girls had a table full of cakes and sold raffle tickets. Tickets were drawn after third quarter of the game and lucky winners got to select a cake to take home.

Another table was set up as a bake sale. It was lined with cupcakes, brownies and other treats. All proceeds went to the “Strong like Zaylee” campaign. She is the daughter of Syleena Simkins, and was diagnosed last year. Several fundraiser have been held to help the family with medical and living expenses.

A spaghetti feed is also scheduled for Feb. 25 at the St. Regis Community Center.
