Frenchtown Rural Fire District, the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation and Missoula County Sheriff’s Department raced up Toulette Lane and Fox Hill Road on the afternoon of July 4 to a structure fire in Frenchtown.

Crews arrived to a fully engulfed shed and flames melted the siding of a nearby home. They were able to extinguish the flames quickly. The shed was located near the 1700 block of Brass Lane. There were pets inside the structure but they were able to get out safely.

It is a residential area surrounded by horse pastures and homes in the immediate area. Gusty winds pushed the fire to nearby grass, however, thanks to the quick response from emergency crews the blaze was quickly contained.

Mel Holtz with the Frenchtown Fire Department said, “stuff is starting to dry out, so we are urging people to use caution.”

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
