Forrest Kaufman, 84

Beloved husband and father, Forrest Harley Kaufman of Spokane and formerly of Plains passed away June 17, 2017 of heart failure.

Forrest was born April 9, 1933, in Locke, Indiana to Reverend Joseph J. and Ferne M. Kaufman. The family moved to Pennsylvania when he was a child. Forrest had three brothers and two sisters and attended Rockwood High School in Rockwood, Penn. He loved baseball, and after high school, played in the St Louis Cardinals minor league farm system in Florida. In the early 1960s, Forrest moved to Montana, living in Kalispell and later in Plains for many years. In Montana, he worked as a log scaler for the U.S. Forest Service, the State of Montana, and as an independent contractor. In Plains, Forrest proudly served as a City Council Member for many years. Forrest always enjoyed a good cup of coffee and talking with good friends. He got his elk or deer every year possible. Most recently, Forrest lived in Spokane.

Forrest is mourned by many, including his wife, Chery Kaufman; son, Jeremy Kaufman; step-sons, Mike, John, and Josh Hurley; step-daughter, Cheryl Aday; a sister, Shirley; and many friends. He was preceded in death by daughters Debbie Kay Kaufman and Patricia Ann Cestnik; siblings Virgil, Douglas, Gilbert, and Gloria; and his second wife, Charlaine Lewis Kaufman.
