There was a public meeting tonight, July 26, at 7 pm at the Lozeau Lodge. Fire officials were there to give updates on the Sunrise and Burdette Fires burning east of Superior. Here is what we know so far:

Quartz Flats and Sunrise Creek Road are in Stage 3 Evacuation. Residents can stay at home but they cannot leave and then return.

Evacuees can stay at the Superior school gym. Red Cross will be available for food and necessities. The Human Society is available for pets and livestock can be taken to the fairgrounds in Superior. The sheriff’s depart. will notify residents as to when they can return.

Mail will not be delivered in the area and residents can all the Superior post master to decide what to do with their mail.

Mineral County is in Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, which includes no campfires.

Tarkio and other fishing access will remain open for now.

The Quartz Creek Loop G Campground is closed. Loops on the other side of Interstate 90 will remain open.

Tomorrow, Thurs. July 27 there are concerns about wind and possible lightning. Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph in some areas.
