The Sanders County 4-H club has kicked into high gear with the Fair just around the corner.

Members of the 4-H club have already begun their preparations on the barns at the Fair Grounds in Plains.

Juli Thurston, Extension agent for 4-H Sanders County, was present at the recent Sanders County Fair Board Meeting this past week in Plains. She advised that the 4-H groups are well underway to getting the barns all set for the members exhibitions during the Fair.

With a full program set for the 4-H club, spectators can expect to see clean and tidy barns and sale yard for the big event.

“We are painting barns, looking to extend the cover over the sale arena and hoping to get the electrical ready in the horse barn,” said Thurston.

Though there is still a fair bit of work to do for all the preperations, local 4-H members have also begun hosting some Texas 4-H members this week here in the Sanders County.

“This is a great opportunity for all our members to meet other 4-H kids and learn how they may do things a little different, the friendships that will build off these kinds of programs are also great as they can help open doors for any member wishing to take their 4-H experience all the way,” said Thurston.

With a week of hosting, locals will see plenty of 4-H members around the county enjoying in activites from swimming at the dock in Trout Creek, to fishing, learning about historic Thompson Falls and much much more.

Even though Hosting week has just begun, local 4-H members will be getting set for a busy August. All the Sanders County 4-H members will not only be preparing for the upcoming fair, but they will also be looking at those stand out members to nominate for a number of awards and also tyding up their projects all before the school year begins.

No doubt on Fair Readiness Day anyone driving past the Sanders County Fair Grounds, will see a transformation of the 4-H barns and pavillions as the 2017 members look to make an impression that a county can be proud of.

The County Fair Board members seem to be just as excited as the 4-H club to see a top notch exhibit come the end of August.

Any 4-H members looking to show in the Sanders County 4-H sections should make sure they get their nominations in online as deadline for entries is August 9.
