Potatoes grow $1,600 for local museum
A delicious time was had by all that attended the LaRue-Hot Springs Museum’s Annual Spud Fest and Silent Auction on April 23 at the Senior Center in Hot Springs.
Included in this year’s Fest was the “Spud Decorating Contest.”
The contest was open to all ages and prizes were awarded in several categories including Most Beautiful, Most Original and the Biggest Eyesore. Prizes were donated by local Hot Springs merchants.
The goal each year of the Spud Fest is to earn enough money to pay for the museum’s monthly upkeep and utilities. This year, over $1,600 dollars were raised between 85 meal sales and the silent auction. This is the most money the Spud Fest has raised since it began in 2009.
The LaRue-Hot Springs Museum is open every Friday and Saturday, noon to 4 p.m., from May 19 to Sept. 8. Call 406-741-5665 for more information. Admission is free.
