Schroeder pole vaults way to top of podium to lead Thompson Falls at state track meet
Throughout the entire track season, Thompson Falls’ pole vaulter Losha Schroeder has become accustomed to finishing in one place at events: first.
Schroeder finished first a grand total of seven times throughout the season, including Divisional and State competition in the pole vault.
Schroeder continued this trend and ended up at the top of the podium with a first place at the Class AA & B track meet Friday and Saturday at Charlie Merrified Track Bulldog Memorial Stadium in Butte.
Schroeder cleared a distance of 13 feet, 6 inches and although his PR was 14 feet during the season, the distance was enough to land him at the top of the podium Saturday.
As a team, the Bluehawks boys finished 8th, recording a cumulative total of 28 points. Fairfield High School took the gold with 60.11 points. The girls finished 17th with a total of eight points. Bigfork won the title with a total of 109 points.
Garrett Strine finished behind Schroeder in the pole vault and PRed clearing a distance of 13 feet.
Strine placed 10th in the 400-meters with a time of 52.54 (another PR), 13th in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.39 seconds, and was part of a group that finished 13th in the 4X400 relay. The group consisted of Strine, Nate Tibeault, Cody Garrison, and Danny Hoisington.
Tibeault also finished 14th in the 400-meters with a time of 53.18 seconds.
Colby Lantz finished 16th in the 3200-meter with a time of 11 minutes, 39.32 seconds.
Kade VanElyswy participated in three events including the discus, javelin, and triple jump. VanElyswy’s top place was fifth in the jav and he recorded a throw of 169 feet, 9 inches. He finished 20th in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 1.25 inches and 11th in the discus with a throw of 126 feet, 3 inches.
MacKenzie Holt placed fifth in javelin with a throw of 169 feet, 9 inches and 11th in discus throwing it 126 feet, 3 inches.
Danny Hoisington PRed in the triple jump to an 8th place finish with a jump of 41 feet, 5 inches. Hoisington also finished 17th in the 110-meter hurdles recording a time of 16.60 seconds and was also a member of the Bluehawks’ relay team that finished 13th.
Wheeler finishes second in javelin
Madison Wheeler finished second in javelin and PRed with a throw of 121 feet, 5 inches at Friday and Saturday’s Class AA & B track meet at Charlie Merrified Track Bulldog Memorial Stadium in Butte.
Wheeler also finished 7th in pole vault, clearing a distance of 8 feet, 6 inches.
The Lady Bluehawks’ 4X100 relay team consisting of Maya Stiles, Haley Morgan, Bethanie Ulrick and Gillian Nelson finished 13th and the Lady Bluehawks’ 4X400 relay team that consisted of Sarah Detlaff, Morgan, Ulrick, and Nelson also finished 17th recording a time of 4 minutes, 30.60 seconds.
Nelson also participated individually in the 200-meter dash and finished 20th with a time of 28.83 seconds.
Stiles finished 18th in pole vault, clearing a distance of 7 feet, 6 inches after qualifying with her PR of 8 feet at Divisionals in Frenchtown.
Brionna Mcjunkin finished 8th in discus with a throw of 98 feet, 8 inches.
