Blue Hawks football blanked by Bigfork at home
It was a tough home game for the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks as they were at the mercy of the Bigfork Vikings on Friday.
The home team went down 44-0, with most touchdowns scored in the first half.
Hawks head coach Jared Koskela noted before the game that his team had some tough competition in the first half of the season and the visiting side was no different.
“It’s always fun with the guys on the team. They work hard and are doing well in their roles,” said Koskela.
“We’re hoping for a win, but it has been two years since we’ve beaten this team,” Koskela added. “They’re a tough team to play. We look to be as sharp as we can on the field tonight and play a good game of football.”
The home side showed good heart through the first half of the game, but Bigfork took advantages of some fumbles and missed tackles for touchdowns.
Through the third quarter, due to the lead taken by Bigfork, the clock was set to run out making the second half a quick half.
“We are in the heart of the season and even though we haven’t had the start we had hoped for I am confident that with the upcoming games the boys can get back on top for a strong second half of the season,” said Koskela.
Though the team went down to Bigfork on the night in front of the home crowd, coaches and assistants were quick to point out that the Blue Hawks hold great talents and also gave credit of leadership to team captain Sam Ostwald (44) who led the team well on the field.
“We have great players that have great talents on the field. We just need to get in and play the game as best we can,” said Koskela.
