Plains, Hot Springs spikers dominate court

With volleyball season delving further toward tournament time, teams around Sanders County all played last week.
The Plains Trotters went up against the Noxon Lady Devils on the Devils’ home court. The varsity girls played a close game, but Plains came out on top for the win.
Trotters and Lady Devils played four sets for the match, total scores officially being 25-18, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16 for a three-set win.
Plains standout players were Rachel Huenink for nine out of 35 kills, as well as eight of the 14 blocks. Jessica Thompson made 16 of the 59 digs while Hayley Josephson held 17 of the 29 assists. Lindsay Laws took four of the 12 aces against Noxon.
Noxon standout players were Delaney Weltz who took six of the 21 Kills, two of four blocks as well as five of the eight assists for the game. Anna Kaiser helped Weltz with two of the four blocks, while Corey Brodmerkle took 20 of the 88 Digs. No aces were recorded.
Plains also went up against Two Eagle River, defeating them 25-8, 25-2 and 25-6 as the visiting team.
Plains standout players were Kylee Altmiller with three of the nine Kills. No blocks recorded. Audrey Brown got two of the three digs, Lindsay Lewis and Haley Josephson both got two of the six assists. Laws also had a standout 16 of the 37 aces locked in for the game.
Two Eagle River had two kills, zero blocks, 10 digs, two assists and two aces for the game.
Hot Springs Lady Savages took two wins in their games against Valley Christian Lady Eagles on a home court and St. Regis in the away game.
Stats for the home game are still coming in, though the Lady Savages took the win in three sets 25-13, 25-11, 25-11.
A quick game, even Lady Savages coach Alisha Pablo said, “It went really quick actually, but the girls played so well. It was a good game for us and we are positive heading into our away game against St. Regis.”
Coach Pablo also said that they were down their assistant coach for the game due to illness.
The Lady Savages continued the scoring run at St. Regis winning in three sets, 25-11, 25-16, 25-22.
Hot Springs standout players were Stacy Gray with eight of the 23 kills, while McKenzie cannon had six of seven blocks. Sage Jackson grabbed 13 of the 38 digs, and Sydney Jackson got 14 of the 18 assists. Brianna Gray was successful in four of the 11 aces.
St. Regis standout players were Justice Taite with 13 of the 20 kills as well as five bloc,s. Baylee Pruitt took 13 digs as well as five aces. Anna Sanford and Emma Hill split the assists for the game with eight each.
Thompson Falls Varsity went up against Bigfork on a home court last Thursday. The Lady Hawks fell to the visiting Vikings team with final score 25-20, 25-11, 25-15.
Thompson Falls standout players were Lexy Van Elswyk who had six kills as well as three blocks. Maya Stiles had 12 digs, and Riley Wilson got 18 of the 20 assists, with Sarah Detlaf had the only ace.
Bigfork standout players were Abby Ellison taking 13 kills as well as 14 idgs. Reese Nissen had two of the three blocks; Aubrey Halverson got 24 of the 25 Assists along with three of the 12 Aces. Lydia Shelley also assisted with three of the aces aside Ellison who also got three.
