St. Regis football comes to premature end

Due to players who were injured or quit the team, St. Regis varsity football came to a premature end. Head Coach Jesse Allan struggled to put a team together at the beginning of the season due to lack of participation. He then managed to pull together enough to fill the roster for the 6-man team. They were able to play a few games this season including a win against Lima.
The team forfeited to Noxon for Saturday’s scheduled game in Noxon.
Ryan Teeters, the Tiger’s lone senior, had an ad hoc Senior Night last weekend during a soccer game being played in St. Regis. He was escorted onto the field by his mother and little brother. He’s lettered in football for three years and said he plans on going into the National Guard and be an auto mechanic after graduation.
His advice to future players was to “work hard both in the classroom and on the field and even when times you get down continue to fight and be the best that you can be.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of Ryan for all that he’s accomplished over the past two and a half years that I’ve had the privilege to coach and teach him. I admire his great determination in the classroom as well as for his commitment he has shown to his friends, coaches and teammates,” said Allan.
During the ceremony Allan announced that, “we have a football player and people here to honor that football player but no football. That’s not good enough.”
Allan then stepped onto the field with pads, helmet and a jersey and allowed Teeter to tackle him on the field. But before the tackle the announcer said, “before you juice him, I want you to think of all the lap conditioning, all the pushups and all the things he made you do. Lay him out!”
