Horsemen ready for state playoffs

The Plains Horsemen football team heads into the state playoffs this week and head coach Eddie Fultz couldn’t be prouder.

“They are a completely different team to what everyone saw at the start of the season,” said Fultz.

After taking a loss to Arlee over the weekend, Plains will enter the playoffs as the fourth seed in the West. The team takes on the top seed from in the South tri-city Hobson-Moore-Judith Gap on Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

The winner will go on to face either the North’s No. 2 seed Centerville or the East’s No. 3 Circle.

Drummond owns the No. 1 seed in the West, with Charlo as the No. 2 West team and Arlee as the No. 3.

Belt is the No. 1 team in the North, while Forsyth is the top team in the East.

Though the recent loss against Arlee isn’t what was hoped for, the Horsemen held Arlee off for most of the game.

Coming into the end of the fourth quarter it came down to the last five seconds to see Arlee steal two touchdowns to bring the final score 44-36.

Though like most games have seen, Coach Fultz believes that those losses haven’t truly reflected the determination and grit shown on the field by his team.

Fultz noted the play of Horsemen quarterback Kyle Weeks, who has taken to his position well throughout the season.

“He has a lot of time with the ball and he adapted really well,” said Fultz.

Coach Fultz along with assistant coaches Jaron Laws and Carson Lilja say they have an abundance of faith in the team heading into Saturday’s playoff game; but also that all the Horsemen fans in the community are backing the boys for a strong season finish.
