Plains-Hot Springs softball fundraiser a grand slam
The Plains-Hot Springs High School softball team turned out an All-American styled barbecue dinner for their annual fundraiser last week.
The talented team turned the Plains VFW hall into fun, relaxed atmosphere for friends and family as they dished up plates before an auction.
The team was all decked out in their uniforms matched with some blingy jeans as they greeted every guest with a smile and thank you as the entered through the front door.
Head coach Michele Bangen said that both she and her coaching staff are excited about the team’s potential this season.
“We can’t believe that our first game is just around the corner,” said Bangen.
“We feel a lot more ahead in our practices than in previous years. We are really excited for the season to come.”
With six players from Hot Springs High School making up the 2018 line up; the fundraiser saw approximately 150 attendees from the Plains and Hot Springs communities come down to support the team.
“There are a few old players, their families and longtime supporters that showed up tonight for the girls,” said Bangen.
Bangen made sure everyone knew it was the parents who really “hit” the event out of the park.
“Jenny Deshaw, Kim Kinzie and Katherine Elliot took the lead to get this event running right up until we opened the doors. The parents of our team truly brought this all together for everyone to have a good time,” she added.
The calm before the storm of what’s expected to be a great season ahead, Bangen said the team has a number of different line-ups they can play this season.
With some home decor and homemade sweets that hit the auction block, Bangen said for those who missed out, “make sure you come down and watch the team this season.”
