Sanders County girls tracksters make immediate impact at Jim Johnson

Plains High School track star Jessica Thompson picked up right where she left off last year after capturing two state titles in the MHSA Class C state track meet.

Thompson placed first in three events including javelin, discus and shot-put. Thompson won the shot-put recording a throw of 39 feet, 2.50 inches, the discus with a throw of 117 feet, 11.50 inches and launched a jav 125 feet, 6 inches.

This early performance has solidified the Trotters’ star in the early season conversation of a competitor that will be in the hunt for state hardware.

Thompson Falls track star Gabriella Pallister finished fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.37 seconds and her Lady Bluehawk’s teammate Haley Morgan recorded a time of 29.95 seconds. Noxon’s Alivia Hill recorded a time of 30.69 seconds.

Morgan finished fifth in the in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minutes, 10.11 seconds.

Thompson Fall’s Sierra Hanks finished 8th in the 800-meter dash with a time of 3 minutes, 11 seconds. Josey Neesvig placed third the 1600-meter dash with a time of 6 minutes, 8.57 seconds.

The Lady Bluehawks excelled in the distance events with two placers in the top 10. Rachel Ribeiro finished third with a time of 14 minutes, 56.67 seconds and Noxon’s Phalyn Fickas finished fourth with a time of 15 minutes, 5.62 seconds.

Lady Bluehawk’s Riley Wilson finished ninth with a time of 19.22 seconds and Kacey VanZanten placed 10th with a time of 19.26 seconds in the 100-meter dash.

Trotter’s runner Cree Lulack finished fifth in the 300-meter hurdles recording a time of 57.71 seconds and Kacey VanZanten finished with a time of 59.14 seconds in the same event.

Plains excelled in the 4X100 meter relay. The team consisting of Mariah Smith, Audrey Brown, Lulack, and Kylee Altmiller recorded a time of 57.30 seconds.

Thompson Falls finished sixth in the 4X400 relay. Joey Neesvig, Rachel Ribeiro, Jody Detlaff and Haley Morgan recorded a time of 5 minutes, 2.87 seconds. Alivia Hill, Anna Kaiser, Kristina Brown and Delaney Weltz of Noxon finished with a time of 5 minutes, 18.63 seconds.

Joining Thompson in a high-caliber throwing performance in shot put was teammate Kara Altmiller, who finished sixth throwing a 28 feet, 8 inches. Noxon’s Delaney Weltz finished eight with a throw of 28 feet, 6 inches and Trotter’s Lindsay Laws finished ninth throwing 27 feet, 8 inches.

Thompson finished second in discus with a throw of 117 feet, 11.50 inches and Kara Altmiller finished third with a throw of 112 feet, 8 inches. Weltz finished fourth throwing 95 feet, 8 inches and Plains’ Rachel Huenink threw 93 feet, 6.50 inches. Nixon’s Cory Bromerkle finished ninth with a throw of 82 feet.

Kara Altmiller finished second in the jav throwing 106 feet, 8.50 inches, Laws finished third with a throw of 103 feet, 6 inches and Noxon’s Kristina Brown recorded a throw of 101 feet, 9.50 inches to finish fourth.

Thompson Fall’s Jody Detlaff placed sixth in the high jump with a jump of 4 feet, 8 inches. Thompson Fall’s Riley Wilson finished 8th in the high jump recording 4 feet, 4 inches and Kylee Altmiller finished ninth with a jump of 4 feet, 2 inches.

Thompson Falls Maya Stiles finished fifth in pole vault with a jump of 7 feet.

Noxon’s Anna Kaiser finished eighth in the long jump with an attempt of 14 feet, 2 inches. Kylee Altmiller finished ninth in the long jump with a jump of 13 feet, 9.50 inches.

Kaiser also finished sixth in the triple jump with an attempt of 30 feet, 2 inches.
