Sanders County track runners excel in Frenchtown

Thompson Falls track member Danny Hoisington was one of several Sanders County track participants that had stand-out performances in the Jim Johnson meet Thursday afternoon at Frenchtown High School.

Hoisington finished first in the boy’s triple jump levitating to a jump of 41 feet, 4.50 inches to capture first place at the meet. He also captured first in the 110-meter hurdles, recording a time of 16.73 seconds.

Placing right behind Hoisington in the triple jump was Noxon’s Levi Brubaker, who recorded a jump of 40 feet, 5.50 inches.

Several other Bluehawks had standout performances in the meet. Thompson Falls runner Nate Tibeault excelled in the 400-meter run recording a time of 56.23 seconds. Tibeault’s time was good enough to place third in the event. Tibeault’s teammate Parker McConnell shined in both the 1600 and 3200-meter run. McConnell recorded a time of 5 minutes, 9.57 seconds, good enough for fourth in the 1600 and placed third in the 3200 with a time of 11 minutes, 35.68 seconds. His teammate Colby Lantz finished fourth with a time of 11 minutes, 45.67 in the 3200.

Bluehawks’ runner Cody Garrison finished four places behind his Thompson Fall’s teammate Hoisington in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 48.12 seconds.

Plains High School finished 10th in the 4X100 relay. The team consisting of Sinjin LaDeaux, Nathan Feliska, Malachi Paulsen and Brandon Managhan recorded a time of 50.47 seconds.

Thompson Falls and Noxon both excelled in the 4X400 relay. The Bluehawk’s team consisting of Garrison, Hoisington, McConnell, and Tibeault finished fourth recording a time of 3 minutes, 58.12 seconds. The Noxon Red Devils team placed eight. The team consisting of Cody Cable, Levi Brusker, Edison VanVlett and Matthew Kaiser recorded a time of 4 minutes, 9.66 seconds.

In recent years, Plains has developed a reputation for having great throwers. This year looks to continue that trend as Rusty Stuart finished fifth recording a throw of 41 feet, 2 inches in shot put. Noxon’s Aaron Raynor and Rylan Weltz also finished in the top 10. Raynor threw 39 feet, 6.25 inches to place seventh and Weltz recorded a throw of 38 feet, 10.25 inches, placing 8th.

Staurt, Weltz and Raynor all placed in the top 10 in discus. Stuart finished fourth with a throw of 119 feet, 2 inches, Weltz placed with 105 feet, 5 inches and Raynor placed 7th with 101 feet, 6 inches.

Thompson Fall’s Garrison finished third in the javelin competition throwing 145 feet, 10.50 inches and Stuart captured eighth with a throw of 122 feet, 7 inches.

LaDeaux and Hoisington both placed in the top 10 in men’s varsity high jump. LaDeaux finished fifth with a jump of 5 feet, 10 inches and Hoisington finished seventh with a jump of 5 feet, 8 inches.

Garrison finished sixth in the men’s pole vault with a throw of 9 feet, 6 inches.

LaDeaux excelled in the jumping events. LaDeaux finished second behind Frenchtown’s Jace Klucewich, recording a leap of 19 feet, 9 inches and Tibeault finished third with a jump of 19 feet, 6 inches. Plains High School’s Brandon Managhan finished with a jump of 19 feet, 4 inches, placing fourth and Hoisington finished fifth with a jump of 19 feet, 3 inches.

LaDeaux finished fourth in the triple jump recording a leap of 38 feet, 11 inches to finish in fourth place. LaDeaux finished two places behind fellow Sanders County performers Hoisington (Thompson Falls) and Brubaker (Noxon), who finished first and second in the event.
