Plains High School student Malachi Paulsen has once again wowed locals with his artistic talents.

Paulsen entered a portrait in the recent Patriotic Art Contest held by the VFW Horse Plains Auxiliary group. Auxiliary secretary Carol Harris said that the judges where beyond impressed with the entry from Paulsen.

“He really brought this to life,” said Harris.

“There are details in this piece that you just wouldn’t think are possible to draw. It really looks like a photograph and not a painting,” she added.

Harris explained she was on her way to the Post to send the winning entry off to the state judging competition.

“We really hope it’s a winner, he [Paulsen] just did such an amazing piece,” said Harris.

The local contest saw six entires in total, with Skylar Bergstrom taking second place and Justine Martin third.
