Montana Aussie Adventures with Erin-Jay
So another week in the gorgeous northwest part of the state, and I found one of the best roads to drive down.
As I headed out to a fundraiser in Hot Springs over the weekend, I ended driving a new road and seeing some new views that completely invigorated the soul.
I’m pretty sure I have said this before, but I have found over my many miles of traveling that there are places in this world that resemble so many others.
As I hit that dirt road, it truly felt as though I was back in the western part of Arizona during the summer.
I was once again taken away with the landscape and was really happy that my job had taken me out on some country roads to enjoy what was happening around me.
Now don’t get me wrong, I am always a fan of the mountains and discovering that side of Montana, but I am an open spaces, wild plains kind of cowgirl; no pun intended.
What really got me in that zen mode as I was driving, was noticing the many ranches out that way.
I guess it really proves that you can take the girl out of the country but can’t take the country out of the girl.
I was just really glad that it hadn’t snowed as I don’t think my two wheel drive would have gotten me to where I was going.
However, I think that with the warm weather hitting us, there will be some more exploring both on the plains and in the mountains.
I also noticed just how green the country side has gotten over the last few weeks. As the ground and landscape come back alive, I am really looking forward to the glacier blue waters of the rivers.
Last year when I arrived to Montana that was one of the first things I noticed as I drove through the county: the green mountains and glacier blue waters.
It’s not anywhere near the same shades of blue that I am use to, to having grown up next to the beach, but it does make for some beautiful photographs to which I am really looking forward to capturing.
On a side note, I can also say that I have successfully locked myself out of my house and truck during the cooler weather. Yes, I know this isn’t the best story for anyone to own up to in a column nonetheless. However, it does make for a good laugh when I tell friends and family back home.
Again, living in rural America you don’t generally have that 24-hour quick roadside service, but what you do have are people that are willing to help you out even if its early in the morning.
That is just another reason to why I love living in the country, people are willing to help you out when you get in a bind and at the end of the day, it’s those friendships that last a life time.
Now all I have to do is make sure I pay it forward where I can and keep that good karma going and that good old country hospitality alive.
So as the light continues to fill that big sky above, and the days start bringing those gorgeous Montana sunsets, I am looking forward to exploring where I can and finding new dirt roads to explore.
Until next week Sanders County…HooRoo
