Red Devils have strong turnout at T-Falls Invite

The Noxon Red Devils’ boy’s track team had a total of 15 top-five finishes at the Thompson Falls Invitational Thursday afternoon at Thompson Falls High School.

Of all of the outstanding performances turned in by the Red Devils this week, Levi Brubaker’s performance in the triple jump competition stood out for Noxon.

Brubaker was the only varsity member of the Red Devils to capture first in T-Fall’s Invite, besting the Bluehawk’s top-tier athlete Danny Hoisington by over a foot and a half.

Brubaker cleared 40 feet, 11.50 inches to capture first place in the triple jump event. Hoisington finished second, recording a distance of 39 feet, 5.25 inches.

Brubaker wasn’t the only standout Red Devil at T-Falls. Noxon also had three varsity participants that placed fourth in T-Falls including Cody Gable, Aaron Raynor and Brubaker, who placed second in their respective events.

Gable placed second in the 200-meter dash, recording a time of 25.68 seconds. Aaron Raynor, who finished second in shot put, recorded a throw of 41 feet, 7 inches, achieving a personal record. Brubaker finished second in long jump, leaping 19 feet, three inches, also a personal record.

The Red Devils had several other individual that shined in running, distance, jumping and throwing events.

Brubaker finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.59 seconds, Cable finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.18 seconds. Edison VanVleet finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 27 seconds, a personal record. VanVleet also finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.22 seconds and the 300 with a time of 47.16 seconds, a personal record.

Jared Webley excelled in the distance event and recorded a time of 12 minutes, 44 seconds en route to a fourth-place finish.

The 4X100 relay team consisting of Brubaker, Cable, Aiden Galloway and Silas Hay recorded a time of 51.39 seconds for a third-place finish and the 4X400 relay team of Cable, Currie, VanVleet, and Hay finished fourth with a time of 4 minutes, 12.55 seconds.

Shot Put thrower Ryan Weltz finished three places behind teammate Raynor in the shot put competition recording a throw of 40 feet, 5 inches to finish fifth in the event. Raynor placed third in discus recording a distance of 107 feet, 7 inches.

In the javelin, Red Devil Rylan Weltz finished third with a throw of 141 feet, 7 inches, a personal record.

Lady Red Devils excel at T-Falls

Not to be outdone by the boys’ crew, the Lady Red Devils had several top-5 performances at the Bluehawks’ Invitational.

Noxon’s Delaney Weltz finished second behind decorated Sanders County athlete Jessica Thompson in the shot put competition. Weltz recorded a distance of 31 feet, 6 inches in shot put. Thompson finished first with a throw of 39 feet.

Weltz and teammate Kristina Brown both excelled in the javelin event. Brown recorded a throw in the jav of 101 feet, 8 inches to finish fourth and Weltz threw 98 feet, inches, to place fifth in the event.

Cory Brodmerkle finished with a throw of 88 feet, 5 inches in the discus placing fourth.

Phalyn Fickas placed second in the 3,200-meter distance event recording a time of 15 minutes, 38.40 seconds. Fickas also recorded a time of 6 minutes, 57 seconds in the 1,600-meter run.

Red Devil’s jumper Anna Kaiser excelled in both the long and triple jump events. Kaiser finished third in long jump with a jump of 14 feet, 9.50 inches, a personal record and second in the triple jump recording a leap of 31 feet, 2 inches behind Mission High School’s Afton Brander, who placed first with a jump of 32 feet, 1.50 inches.

Noxon competitor Kristina Brown finished fifth in the 400-meter dash recording a time of 1 minute, 11 seconds and Kaiser, finished fifth in the 800-meter dash with a time of 3 minutes, 17 seconds.

Kali Murray excelled in both of the hurdling events. Murray finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time 19.67 seconds and finished second with a time of 56.19 in the 300-meters.

The Lady Red Devils also finished with outstanding performances in the 4X100 and 4X400 relay events. The 4X100 relay team which consisted of Brown, Alivia Hill, Kali Murray and Weltz, finished fourth with a time of 59.49 seconds and third in the 4X400 with a team of Brown, Hill, Kaiser and Kali Murray together recorded a time of 5 minutes, 5.87 seconds.

The Red Devils, Lady Red Devils will have a break in their schedule after Tuesday’s meet. Noxon won’t compete again until 10 a.m. May 5in a meet at Missoula.
