Sanders County Sheriff Departments Deputy Roy Scott is heading this years Montana Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Scott has taken over organizing this years event and is getting geared up for the event to come to Sanders County.

He had begun fundraising with the sale of t-shirts for the 2028 fundraiser having sold 212.

However, it’s the runners he now needs to complete the event.

Scott put out the call a few weeks ago via social media to look for runners to participate as they pass the torch along Highway 200.

Sanders County Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Spurr has already signed up alongside his wife Whitney to take part in the event.

With a small group of runners already signed on, Scott is still needing a few more to join in on the fun.

Those who want to take part can run, walk, ride a bike, ride a horse or travel your part in just about any way imaginable.

The event will happen this Saturday April 28, kicking off at the County line on the west end.

The event still needs at least 15 runners to volunteer to travel with the torch.

If you want to take part, you can contact Deputy Roy Scott at the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office or you can email tscott@co,sanders.mt.us
