Trotters, Horsemen excel at T-Falls, Big Sky track meets

The Plains High School girls have some of the best throwers in the state and they were able to showcase their abilities at the Big Sky Invitational Saturday afternoon at Missoula.

Trotter’s all-state thrower Jessica Thompson captured first place in the shot put, discus and javelin.

Barring injury, Thompson looks like she will again capture throwing hardware in the MHSA Class C state track meet. Thompson finished first in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 1.50 inches. Second place was Powell County’s Ariel Clark, who threw for 37 feet, 7.50 inches. Thompson’s teammate Kara Altmiller set a personal record with a throw of 33 feet to capture fourth in the shot put.

Thompson captured first in the discus with a throw of 129 feet, 3.50 inches, and Altmiller finished fourth recording a distance of 103 feet, 9 inches.

Thompson also finished first in the javelin recording a distance of 115 feet, 11 inches and Lindsay Laws finished fourth with a throw of 109 feet, 2.50 inches.

Horsemen excel at Big Sky

The Plains boy’s track team had a few noteworthy performances Saturday afternoon at the Big Sky Meet in Missoula.

Rusty Stuart set a personal record and PRed in the javelin launching the jav 148 feet, 4.50 inches.

Brandon Managhan placed fifth in the high jump recording a height of 5 feet, 6 inches and also placed in the top-five in the triple jump. Managhan recorded a distance of 38 feet, 5.50 inches finishing fifth.

Trotters excel at T-Falls

The Plains Trotters Mariah Smith had a breakout meet Thursday afternoon at the Thompson Falls Invitational.

Smith finished fifth in the 200-meter dash recording a time of 30.76 seconds and finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1 minute, 8.68 seconds, a personal record. Audrey Brown finished fourth in the 400 with a time of 1 minute, 10.71 seconds.

Lindsay Laws finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.61 seconds. Laws was also a member of the 4X100 relay team that finished fifth that included Delaney Weltz, Audrey Brown, Rachel McNutly, and Smith that recorded a time of 1 minute, .36 seconds.

Horsemen excel at T-Falls

Plains Horsemen Gavin Regalado captured first place in the 300-meter dash with a time of 48.17 seconds, a personal record.

The 4X100 relay team that consisted of Brandon Managhan, Malachi Paulsen, Gavin Regalado, and Sinjin LeDeaux finished fourth recording a time of 55.29 seconds at T-Falls.

LaDeaux also finished first in the high jump recording a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches.

Sanders County tracksters excel at Big Sky

Noxon thrower Delaney Weltz set a personal record with a throw of 109 feet, 10.50 inches in the javelin to finish in third place and fifth in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, 7.50 inches in the discus.

Noxon’s Aaron Raynor threw 40 feet, 5 inches to capture fifth in the shot put and the Red Devils’ Levi Brubaker placed second in the triple jump recording a distance of 41 feet, 10 inches.

Hot Springs performer Tyler Carr finished fifth at the Big Sky event in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.25 seconds.

Carr also placed third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.74 seconds and place third in the 300-meter hurdles recording a time of 46.64 seconds.

Carr finished first in both the shot put at the T-Falls Invite recording a throw of 35 feet and the javelin with a throw of 106 feet, 10 inches.

Carr participated in the 4X100 relay team at T-Falls and finished third with a team consisting of Kawika Ilac, Jesse Uski and Bert Detienne with a time of 4 minutes, 34.2 seconds.
