Montana Aussie Adventures with Erin-Jay

| August 8, 2018 11:16 AM

Wow, can you believe we are over halfway through the year? School is nearly started and Christmas will be here before we know it.

It really doesn’t feel as though we are scootin’ through the year so quickly, but alas we are nearly at the Sanders County Fair once again.

I’m not sure about you, but I am very much looking forward to all that is fair once again. From the pavilions to the showing and the rodeo, I am looking forward to a busy few days of covering and fun that I can share with my family.

Though they will miss out on the demo derby, they will be here in Sanders County to experience a good chunk of it.

This past week, I have been preparing for that extended Aussie invasion to the county, but even while I have been out and about can you believe I have once again met some new people with whom I had the pleasure of crossing paths.

I still become amazed at all the new people I get to meet, even now that I get to enjoy some of the events that I first got to experience last year. Even better than that, I get to re-meet and reconnect with those organizers of the events that I met last year. It just proves that there are never two days the same for a journalist, every day is a brand new experience for sure.

It’s also another month where I have been reflecting on what the second half of the year is going to entail for me. If you remember, around this time last year, I told you guys that there are certain points in the year where I reflect and reorganize my thoughts and goals. August is a great time to do that.

Especially with school getting ready to start in a few weeks, it’s a great time for high schoolers and college students to reflect before they hit the ground running on another school year.

For me, after experiencing last year, August is once again a busy month and I want to get out and about as much as I can before we hit winter. This North Queenslander wants to soak up the sun as much as I can before we welcome that snow.

However, in saying that, this month ahead will see plenty of visitors coming into the county. And with the annual Huckleberry Festival coming up at the end of the week, I am really looking forward to hanging out with the residents of the western end of the county.

Outside of these fun festivals and outdoor events coming up, the time is ticking away quickly and football season will return. Though I don’t get to watch as many games as I would like, it’s still one of my top favorite sports to watch.

So as I set and prep, rearrange my goals for all aspects of that work life balance, I am exceedingly excited to be able to show my family around the county during the month and getting set to cover some of my favorite events I attended last year once again.

As always, Sanders County, stay great and, until next week…HooRoo
