Drummond High School hosted the season opener with a volleyball tournament last Saturday where the Drummond Lady Trojans, Granite Lady Prospectors, Flint Creek Lady Titans, Clark Fork Mountain Cats, St. Regis Lady Tigers, Darby Lady Tigers, Lima, Victor Lady Pirates, and Seeley-Swan all squared off.

The Mountain Cats played Darby, Drummond and Gardiner and though the team lost their matches, head coach Toni Labbe said all the matches were close and that the losses were due to unforced errors.

“I was pleased considering I have six different lineups and several freshman on the court at one time,” she said. “We used this weekend as a learning experience for the younger girls.”

The St. Regis Lady Tigers also lost their three matches — falling to Twin Bridges, Victor and Lincoln.

“It was a slow start for us, but we had steady improvements throughout the day,” head coach Jennifer Pruitt said about her team.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28, Clark Fork was scheduled to play at Wallace, Idaho. The Mountain Cats play Thursday at Victor, with match times 5:30 p.m. for junior varsity and about 7 p.m. for varsity. Clark Fork hosts Valley Christian in the home opener this Saturday at Alberton. Match times are 4 and 5:30 p.m.

St. Regis opens the home-court season Thursday against Hot Springs. The JV match starts at 5:30 p.m., with varsity action to follow around 7 p.m. The Lady Tigers plays at Charlo on Saturday at 4:30 and 6 p.m.
