Shania Lynn Raymond

| February 7, 2018 4:00 AM

Shania Lynn Raymond was tragically taken from us while at her residence in Miles City on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018. She was born Sept. 28, 1996 to Jimmy Raymond and Shela (Silverthorn) Herring in Plains. Shania graduated from Lake City High School in June 2015.

Shania was raised in Plains prior to moving with her father and brother to Idaho in the summer of 2008. She attended Post Falls High School in Post Falls, Idaho before transferring to Lake City High School upon moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. While attending Lake City she found a desired path to help others by chasing dreams of becoming a nurse. Shania dedicated her senior year to attending an offered “KTEC” technical program, all the while balancing a demanding schedule associated with meeting her high school graduation requirements and working at the Iron Horse Restaurant as a hostess. Shania received her high school diploma from Lake City High School, and also attained her Certified Nursing Assistant certification from “KTEC.”

Shania devoted herself to being the guiding light for others, whether it had been as a support system and helping to find the positive in problems, or to comfort and lift those up in need of help. Her laugh and smile was contagious. It could light up a room, turn a dark day into sunshine. She always had a special and welcoming smile for anyone she met; while always ready to make those in need feel welcome. She was there for you, and would put those who were in pain above her own. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family or friends. Shania’s compassion for her family and friends was evident in her daily life, and this is reflected by the impact she had on so many lives. Many hearts are broken with the loss of our dearest Nia.

Shania’s free spirited soul had her always seeking the next adventure. She loved the mountains, lake and nature. She had an eye for finding the beauty in the surrounding environment. The outgoing and adventurous lifestyle she led kept her always looking for more whether it was that next hill to climb, or that next trail to hike. Her ultimate companion on any of her adventures would be her little four-legged furry friends. Shania LOVED her dogs! Wherever Shania was on one of her outdoor adventures you could bet Pedro, Savage, or any number of her other pups would not be too far away.

Many of Shania’s adventures were captured with the lens of a camera. She was unbelievably photogenic. Whether it was a candid shot or Shania striking one of her many naturalistic poses, she elegantly shaped the photo. Shania also loved surrounding herself with children. You could see how so many looked up to her, and felt at ease with her kind demeanor. For Shania, babysitting and being around kiddos came naturally.

Shania was an amazing daughter, sister, friend and beautiful soul. She loved so many, and her love for her family and friends is unquestionable. There is not one person she met who was not touched by the compassion and beauty she radiated. Although Shania’s time to leave us came too early, her impact on those who crossed her path will forever be engraved in our hearts. Shania will be loved and greatly missed by all.

Shania is survived by her father, Jimmy Raymond, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; mother, Shela Herring and step-father James Herring, of Fairview, Montana; brother Chris, of Coeur d’Alene; grandparents, Jim and Sandy Raymond; grandfather, Bill Silverthorn; grandparents Lori and Dan Rebo; great grandmother Laurayne Silverthorn; uncles Jason and Jesse Rebo; aunt Julie and uncle Arron Jaques, all of Montana; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her uncle Jason Raymond; great-grandparents, Robert and Jean Perkins; and great-grandparents Ila Mae and Lester Raymond.

Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 at the Plains Cemetery, 702 Clayton St., Plains, MT 59859.

If desired, any monetary donations and cards can be made out to Jimmy or Shela, and sent to: 1015 N. C St., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
