Members of the Cabin Fever Quilters Guild had a special guest during their monthly meeting in St. Regis on Saturday. Montana’s U.S. House Rep. Greg Gianforte, along with his wife Susan, stopped in for a brief visit.

The congressman had been in De Borgia earlier to give an award to local resident Bruce Charles, and stopped in at the St. Regis Community Center on his way to Kalispell.

The guild meets once a month to sew and hold a business meeting and were breaking for lunch when guests arrived. Susan is also a quilter and the ladies showed projects they were working on, including a large quilt which will be raffled at the county fair next August.

They make and give quilts to local veterans, cancer patients, people who lost their homes and other Mineral County residents in need. About 10 members were present and they all gathered around Gianforte as he took a selfie with the group.

“Quilts are just beautiful,” he told the group as he peppered them with questions about their organization. He asked if they are looking for members and the Guild president, Sherril Christensen, said new members are always welcome.

Anyone wanting information about the Guild or if they know of a vet or anyone else in need of a quilt can call Gloria Hermes at (406) 649-2347.
