A GoFundMe page has been created for the St. Regis Music Department to try and raise money for a vibraphone. The page reads that the department has “begun to work on their first percussion ensemble piece and we only need one more instrument to make our mallet section complete. Yamaha makes great instruments for a reasonable price and we are excited to fill out our percussion section with the cool sounds that this instrument adds. Help us out and donate to a wonderful growing music program in small-town Montana!”

So far, $1,655 of a $2,000 goal has been raised.

A portion of the funds raised were from the DeBorgia Historic School House Foundation, which donated $500 to the music department. Annually the foundation honors either a scholarship or a school department request. Members of the group vote to recognize a student or a school in need, continuing to share their proceeds to aid education from one to school to another.

Spelling bee

The Mineral County Spelling Bee will be held in Alberton at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Lenten lunches at Senior Center

Lenten lunches continue at the Senior Center in Superior. These are open to everyone and are free of charge. There will be a free-will basket at the check-in table. These donations will be distributed at the end of Lent to non-profit organizations such as We Care, Food Bank, Women in Timber or other recipients determined by the committee. One year we donated to the swimming pool.

These lunches will be soup and bread, each provided by a different church group. There will be a brief devotion after everyone has eaten, presented by the leader of the hosting church.

Remaining dates are Tuesdays at noon on March 6, 13, and 20. There is a possibility of a bus to pick up those who don’t drive or just need a ride. Call Nancy Wilson at 822-4548 or 274-1033 for more information.
