Local cats and dogs can now get some serious swagger about their looks with the recent grand opening of Wagn Tails pet grooming.

The new full-service pet grooming shop is located just behind the H&R Block shop on West Railroad Avenue in Plains.

The tiny shop front was packed full with local pets and their owners for the grand opening Saturday.

Pattie Waltner has been a groomer for over 35 years and has been taking care of local pets in Plains for last three years after she and her husband relocated from Dillon.

Dogs large and small attended the grand opening, including her first customer Petey and his owner Pat Farmer who were just as excited as Waltner for the new shop.

“Animals love her, we love her. She has a real gift with what she does, she is just so wonderful,” added Farmer.

Waltner offers full-service grooming to all her clients and said that she understands pets are like people, everyone is different.

“We use hypoallergenic products, top quality shampoo’s, nothing cheap. Our animals are like us, they can have different skin types that require different products,” she said.

There were family and friends there to help celebrate with cake and treats for both the two and four-legged guests, the once bare shell has turned into an inviting fun filled salon for local pets.

After nearly 20 gallons of paint, some elbow grease and a vision, Waltner’s Wagn Tails is open “fur” business for cats and dogs looking to get some serious swagger.

“I’ve been busier here in Plains then I have anywhere else, I just hope my clients like the new shop as much as I do,” said Waltner.
