On Jan. 11 the St. Regis Tigers faced Hot Springs where the lady’s put a check mark in the “win” box, 50-28. The Tigers came out on top in the first half putting 26 points on the board to the Lady Savage Heats’ 10 points. Though the Heat managed to tighten the gap in the third and fourth quarter with 18 points it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tigers additional 24 second half points for the win.

Kylee Thompson and Justice Tate topped the team in shooting with 13 points each, Madison Kelly had 9, Emma Hill 8, and Anna Sanford 7.

In boys basketball Hot Springs jumped over St. Regis with a 42-33 win. The Heat came out strong in the first half putting up 21 points to the Tigers 12. St. Regis came back strong in the second half and matched the Heat with each team putting up 21 points. Both Nic Day and Andrew Sanford had 11 points each, Adam Day had 5 and Ryan Teeter and Ian Ferris each had 3.

Tigers meet Lynx on home court, with a win for the girls, a loss for the boys

At home the Tigers face the Lincoln Lynx on Jan. 12 where the boys took a hit with a 49-30 loss. The Tigers were ahead at the half with a 3 point lead, 19-16 and managed to keep the score tight until the end of the third where the Lynx held a one point lead, 26-25. But in the fourth quarter the Lynx sprang into action and overtook the Tigers putting up 23 points to the home teams score of 5. Andrew Sanford was team high scorer with 10 points, Nic Day had 7, Tanner Day, 5, Ryan Teeter and Adam Bori each had 3 and Ian Farris, 2.

During the girl’s game, the Lady Tigers leapt over the Lynx pulling out a 55-41 win in front of the home crowd. The Tigers came out strong in the first half with a 25 point lead, 38-13. In the second half the Lynx managed to tighten the score and put 18 points up in the fourth quarter to the Tigers 7 but it wasn’t enough for the win. Kylee Thompson lead the pack with 16 points, followed by Madison Kelly with 14, Anna Sanford had 12, Justice Tate 10 and Emma Hill 3.

Cats face Eagles in Alberton with crushing loss for boys; girls win big

In Alberton on Jan. 9 the Clark Fork Mountain Cats faced the Valley Christian Eagles with a nail-biter for the boys, who lost by one point, 43-42. The two teams matched buckets all night with the Cats leading at the half by one, 23-22. By the end of the third quarter, the Eagles were up by 2. But the night ended in heartbreak as Eagle, Casey Reimer scored a winning put-back basket. Carson Callison had a great game putting up 23 points for the evening, freshman, Aaron Waddle had 9, Bryan Mask 8 and Connor Voll 2.

During the girls game the Cats were the team flying high over the Eagles with a 51-11 win. The Cats rallied big-time in the first quarter putting 26 points on the board, leaving the Eagles in the dust with only 4 points. By the half they led by 28 points with the score 34-6. It was a team effort by the Cats with Hailey Kelly leading way with 14 points. Both Madison Mask and Madison Lommen had 10 points each, Montanna Baughman had 8, Sophia Krutilla, Kenzie Mueller, Katherine Parkin and Hannah Calloway each had 2 points.

Cats hit the road and girls win over Darby; boys lose

On Jan. 13 the Cats traveled to Darby where the boys lost to the Tigers 65-54. The two teams kept pace during most of the game with the Cats in the lead at half-time, 26-22.

But in the second half of the game, the Tigers managed to pull out a few more baskets, especially in the third quarter where they put up 19 points to the Cats 8. Connor Voll led the team in points with 19, followed by Bryan Mask who put up 14. Carson Callison had 6, Aaron Waddle 9, Korey Radford 4 and Danner Haskins 2.

Meanwhile, on the girl’s side of the games the Lady Cats jumped over the Tigers for a 69-29 win. As one of the top-ranked teams, the Cats had a triple score of 20 in the first three quarters with 9 in the fourth quarter. By the half they had the game secured with a 40-10 lead. Hailey Kelly had a great game putting 22 points on the board. Madison Lommen followed close behind with 18 points, Madison Mask had 9, Sophia Krutilla 8, Kenzie Mueller 6, Montanna Baughman 4 and Emmah Baughman, 2.
