Sheriff's Office receives $10k donation
Phillips 66 recently donated $10,000 to the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office as part of their Philanthropic Community Program.
The philanthropy program is a year-round community participation the company takes part in nationwide.
Annually they contribute to around $750,000 to a number of community specific needs, programs, businesses, groups that they feel can use an extra boost in their bank accounts to be able to provide their community with resources or needs.
This past week Phillips 66 Missoula Division’s Philip Williamson, terminal supervisor at the Thompson Falls site, and Dan Normandeau, operator, presented a check to the Sheriff’s Office so they could be one step closer to purchasing a new vehicle.
“We enjoy being able to help a number of different people and organizations in our community. The SCSO sat under the Emergency preparedness section for this round of donations,” said Williamson.
“It’s very important that we help those who help us and the community where we can through philanthropy programs such as the one Phillips 66 embraces,” he continued to explain.
“We are really excited about receiving this money,” said Sanders County Sheriff Tom Rummel. “It helps us get that much more closer to a new vehicle for our department,” he continued to explain.
“This is also a great benefit to the community as it allows pressure to be taken off with budget constraints and also keeps the strain off tax payers,” said Rummel.
When asked if the SCSO would apply again in the future he said, “Yes, this has opened up another avenue for us. We will see how we go next round. Every little bit helps.”
“We take requests in year-round for Environmental , Emergency Preparedness as well as Education and Literacy. From there each application is reviewed a hand full of times before a decision is made,” said Williamson.
The next round grant recipients will be announced in March. Until then Williamson and Normandeau are making the rounds to those recipients who are sharing $50,000.
