Denley-Magone will vie for House District 14 seat in November
The primary election was held on Tues. June 5, determining which candidates will appear on the November general election ballot. Unofficial election results determine that Republican Denley Loge will face Dem. Diane Magone in the fall. Incumbent Loge beat James Mortenson with 78 percent of the vote to his challengers 22 percent. Magone was unopposed on the democratic ticket.
The brother to Diane, Dale Magone ran against Jessica Schaak for Justice of the Peace. Magone currently holds the office and won with 64 percent of the vote to Schaak’s 36 percent. Both will remain on the ticket in the general election for this non-partisan position.
Another highly contested race was four republican candidates for County Clerk and Recorder, where Kelann McLees won with 37 percent of the vote (303 votes) with Merry Mueller trailing behind with 32 percent or 266 votes. Joan Carroll receive 21 percent (172 votes) and Kristin Parrish has 10 percent, or 85 votes. There are no democratic candidates running for office.
Unchallenged District Court Judge for District 4, Dept. 1, non-partisan is Leslie Halligan; District 4, Dept. 2 is Robert “Dusty” Deschamps; District 4, Dept. 3 is John Larson. Current County Commissioner Rep. Laurie Johnston went unchallenged and will appear on the Nov. ballot, along with Rep. Sheriff Mike Boone; and Rep. County Treasurer Mary Yarnall.
Overall 1,160 Mineral County residents cast their votes out of 3,176 registered. Statewide, incumbent Democrat Jon Tester will face Green Party Steve Kelly who receive 61% of the vote over Timothy Adams who receive 39% of the vote or 955 votes to 619. On the US Senator Republican ticket, Matt Rosendale won 34% of the vote (51,546) and secured a spot in the fall election. Russ Fagg trailed by 28%, or 43,225 votes. Both Troy Downing and Albert Olszewski had 19% of the vote.
On the Democratic ticket for US Representative Kathleen Williams won with 34% of the vote (37,144) to John Heenan’s 32% (35,154) to face incumbent, Rep. Greg Gianforte. Grant Kier had 24% (26,834); Lynda Moss with 5%; John Meyer 3%; and Jared Pettinato with 2%).
Also on the ballot will be US Representative Green Party Doug Campbell as well as Clerk of Supreme Court Dem. Rex Renk; Rep. Bowen Greenwood; non-partisan Supreme Court Justice #4 Full-term Beth Baker; Supreme Court Justice #2 unexpired term Ingrid Gustafson.
