Frances M. Brookins

| June 13, 2018 4:00 AM

Frances M. Brookins, aka Fran or Frankie, age 80, passed away surrounded by her family on May 28, 2018.

From her birth on Nov. 26, 1937, to her death she nurtured people with love, caring and grace. She was born in Kalispell, Montana, to Kenneth and Pauline Olson and was the second of eleven children. After graduating from Flathead High School, she attended nurses training in Helena, Montana.

Following her training, she began her career, using her gift of caring, as a registered nurse. She spent most of her career at Mineral County Hospital “being there” in the emergency room, operating room and on the floor for the people of Superior and surrounding communities. In one of her crazy adventures, she moved to Seattle and got reacquainted with her old boyfriend, John Brookins, aka Jack. Fran and Jack married on February 23, 1963, and after short stays in Seattle and Butte, they settled in Superior, Montana, for the remainder of their life together.

Left to honor Fran and remember her love are Fran’s four children, Cookie (Steve) Brooks, Dean (Allison) Brookins, Pam (Daren) Skonord and Ann (Mike) Hightower; ten grandchildren, Allen, Paul, Malia, Dani, Hailey, Jenna, Shane, Tiana, John and Nate; eight sisters and brothers, Vicki, Jeannine, Maureen, Kookie, Joel, Denny, Kenny and Rod many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Darryl and Mark and her husband of 52 years.

She will be remembered as a caring and loving mom, grandma, sister, friend and nurse. Throughout her life she did not draw attention to herself but sincerely cared about the details in others lives. She worked hard, laughed easily and she had a smile that brought joy to all she came in contact with. God truly gave her the grace to handle the difficulties during the last five years of her life with caring for her husband and mother and with her own illness as well. On Friday before she died, Fran told us, “I’ll see you in Heaven.” Her words comfort and give confidence to all who share her belief that Jesus is our Lord and Savior and we look forward to seeing her there. Memorial services will be held Saturday June 16, 2018 at St Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Superior at 11 a.m. Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family. Please visit www.jgfuneralhome.com to leave condolences for the family.
