Tuesday morning June 5, at approximately 9:05am a small Honda sedan was involved in a collision on Highway 200 out side the Elk Den in Plains situated at approximate mile marker 76.

Plains-Paradise Rural Fire Department attended the scene to which saw them call for an ambulance for the 18-year old female driver of the sedan.

The young driver is thought to have hit the rear end of a truck and trailer side dump; that was turning off the highway.

The sedan was equipped with an airbag which deployed as the front end collided with the back end of the empty trailer.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Trevor Karsh attended the accident and said the young driver sustained possible minor injuries that required medical attention at the Clark Fork Valley Hospital.

Karsh said there was no ticket issued to the driver of the truck.

The driver of the sedan is believed to have been distracted at the time she collided with the truck. She was issued a careless driving citation.

“It’s important to be aware and alert when driving a motor vehicle and not allow yourself to be distracted,” said Karsh.
