Pastor Carol Seilhymer of the First Lutheran Church in Plains recently held a Vacation Bible School for local kids.

The three day camp was a free event for kids to jump in on and have some fun while making new friends.

“Our three day camp was free for kidS to come to. We had twenty-two in total come down,” said Seilhymer.

The kids enjoyed different activities during the day, which ran from 9:00am to 12:00pm.

On the first day kids got to create a shirt that they could take home and enjoy. Then on the second day they made little wells, and on the last day they made a collage; all arts and crafts were apart of this years theme being Water of Life.

Pastor Seilhymer said that the kids learned all kinds of life skills that they talked about during little bible study sessions and also incorporated into some fun activities.

This years water theme was broken up over the three days and used stories from the bible to help explain and give a foundation for learning about caring for your friends.

Monday saw water and creation, then Tuesday was all about the woman at the well story, while Wednesday was about healing.

Wednesday saw the kids head outside for an activity that paired them up with another to work their way through a little obstacle course.

Helping them understand trust and how to help others was apart of the days example from the story of Jesus and the Blind man.

Over the three days Pastor Seilhymer said the kids seemed to thoroughly enjoy all the activities and got to make new friends.

“It was a great three days, and we hope the kids had just as much fun as we did,” she said.
