The Mineral County Performing Arts Council Spring Gala will be held March 16 with “West My Friend” with music ranging from indie-roots to chamber folk. This quartet brings an acoustic blend of instruments and four-part harmonies. Tickets are available by calling Mary Jo Berry at 822-2213 or Cathy Kuhl at 822-4801, Castles Grocery or MCPAC members and includes the concert and dinner.

Meeting today on Adverse Childhood Experiences

Todd Garrison through the ChildWise Institute will be conducting a presentation for the community today, March 14, at Saint Regis School from 5-8 p.m. about Adverse Childhood Experiences which includes the ACE Study, brain research, cost consequences of not preventing ACEs, and how families and communities can build resilience factors to prevent ACEs. The event will be free and open to the public. There will be a meal provided and childcare is available.

There will also be a showing of the video “Paper Tigers” documented by director James Redford which depicts Lincoln High School in Walla Walla, Washington as an ACEs informed and alternative education experience for students that need a more trauma informed school environment.

This presentation and video is important for parents, students, educators, health-care providers, the courts, social service agencies, government, and communities to understand how ACEs impact learning, mental and physical health, relationships, and connection within the environment.

Health-care film set for March 14

“Now is the Time”, will be showing at the Superior Senior Center on Wednesday, March 14, immediately following their regularly scheduled dinner. The movie presents an option to our current health care system; discussion will follow. Dinner is served at 4:30 (fee for dinner) and the movie will begin at approximately 5 p.m.

St. Pat’s Day dinners March 17

—The DeBorgia Historic School House will be hosting its annual authentic St. Pat’s Day dinner, feaaturing corned beef and cabbage, Saturday, March 17, from 4-7:00 at the DeBorgia School House. There will be some lovely unique silent auction items too. All are invited!

—In St. Regis the annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Dance will be held on March 17 at the St. Regis Community Center.

Superior Prom

Superior High School Prom will be held on Saturday, March 17.

Superior High School presents dinner and a play

The Superior Drama Department will present, “The Clock Runs Out for Isabelle Tyme” on Friday and Saturday, March 23, 24 with dinner at 6 and the play at 7 p.m. Contact the school for more information at 822-3600.

Pie contest

The Mineral County Pubic Library is hosting it’s second annual Pie Contest on Sat. March 24 from 12 to 2 p.m. For details visit online at: mineralcountylibrary.org.

Customer service training offered

Flathead Valley Community College and Hecla are offerinh a low-fee customer-service workshop on March 21 in Trout Creek and March 22 in Paradise. The 2 ½ hour session includes dinner.
