Dennis Brockway, 67

Dennis Brockway, 67 of Superior, passed away peacefully with his family on Saturday, March 10, 2018, following several years of heart-related health issues.

Denny was born in Missoula to Duff and Patty (Warnken) on April 7, 1950. He enjoyed a wonderful upbringing in Superior with his younger brother, Jeff, always playing the entertainer to his family and friends. He enjoyed skiing, snowmobiling and playing sports, and was a talented football player, playing quarterback for the state championship winning team in high school.

Following his graduation from Superior High School in 1968, Denny attended Montana State University Northern in Havre, where he quickly became an entrepreneur when he convinced his mom to send him loads of homemade baked goods, which he sneakily sold to other homesick college students. Following a stint as a ranch hand in Crows Landing, California, Denny continued that entrepreneurial spirit, returning to Superior and starting the Superior Standard gas station.

Denny spent the majority of his career serving as a heavy equipment operator, logging and traveling all across the country building power lines and substations. He made many great friends, had a lot of fun and especially loved teaching the younger generation of crane operators. He was the big stick!

Denny was always a barrel of laughs and the life of the party, never meeting a stranger and sharing his sweet smile with all who crossed his path. However, his world really came to light when he met the love of his life, Cammie. After nearly a decade of adventures and a handful of marriage proposals, he was finally able to drag Cammie down the aisle on June 20, 2007, the day that would have been his parents’ 60th wedding anniversary. With Cammie came her children, Jennifer, Jessica and Sonny, whom Denny loved as his own, and their family was complete when they welcomed their son Noble Warrior Brockway in August 2008. Although he had to wait for a long time to experience parenthood, it was abundantly clear that Denny was meant to be a dad.

After many years of working throughout the Western United States, health issues forced Denny into an early retirement in 2014. Though he missed his work greatly, Denny was so glad to be back in his hometown of Superior, happily raising his son with his wife and watching over his mom. He spent the last few years of his life watching “Perry Mason” with his wife every morning, passing on his love of all sports and cheering Noble on in soccer, baseball and basketball, playing pinochle with his mom and Fantasy Football with Jess, and enjoying any visits he could fit in with Sonny and all of his grandchildren.

Denny is survived by his mother, Patty; his wife, Cammie; his children Noble, Jessica, Sonny (Ashley) and Jennie (Hyrum); grandchildren Kaycee, Cash, Charlie, Dakota, Mac, Issy, Kylee, Cordell, Patty Ann, Conrad, Rory, Timberleigh, Brooklynn and Chloe; his brother Jeff and sister-in-law Cathy; nephew Curt; niece Katie (Leland) and great nephew Cooper; nieces Jonnie and Demi; along with numerous loving family members, including aunts, uncles and cousins, countless friends and many other kids he and Cammie lovingly played parents to, including Biz and Nate, Jaime and Mike, Whitnye and Zach and Jaime and Moe.

His father, Duff, and uncles Blue Brockway and Gerry and Dwight Warnken preceded him in death.

A celebration of Denny’s life will be held on Sunday, March 18, at the Superior High School gym at 2 p.m. Following the service, friends and family may join Cammie and the kids at the Bootlegger Bar for food and a drink in his honor along with all the stories you could want to hear.
