After he graduated from Alberton High School, he was in the Army for two years. He and Rae Fleury were married in Alberton on June 16, 1956 at the Methodist Church. They raised their three children in Alberton. He worked at the Smurfit-Stone pulp mill from 1957 to 2010. Malcolm enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life. His other favorite thing to do was watch the Alberton High School Panthers play ball. Most recently, he enjoyed watching the Clark Fork Mountain Cats. He was especially proud of the football, volleyball girls, and boys basketball teams, from this school year. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Elsie and Hector, his daughter Julie; his in-laws John and Tillie Fleury; and his brother Ted. He is survived by his wife Rae; their son David and his wife, Leanne, and their children, Jacob and Kelsey; their daughter Lori and her husband, Cliff Hawk and their son, Brandon Hawk and wife Mindy and their son, Logan; his brother, Ernest, and wife, Pat; sister-in-law Shirley; sister Mae Burris; and his nieces and nephews. Malcolm was a great son, husband, father, grandfather, and most recently, a great-grandfather. His family always came first.

The family suggests memorials going to the Alberton High School Athletic Program for the Clark Fork Mountain Cats.
