Arrest warrant successfully carried out in Plains

Plains Police Department alongside the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office successfully executed a misdemeanor warrant arrest in Plains on Saturday.

The arrest happened at 5 p.m. with officers locating 22-year-old former Plains resident Alexander Eli Johnson.

Johnson was arrested at a local residence, to which he resisted arrest, according to Plains Chief of Police Shawn Emmett.

Emmett said Plains officers and county deputies found a sawed off Winchester 37A 4-10 gauge shot gun in his possession.

Johnson was also allegedly in possession of credit cards and checks that were not of his own, which he allegedly used to fund his travels to Plains.

His original misdemeanor warrant was issued due to Johnson not appearing before the courts from a suspended driving charge.

Police were tipped off that Johnson was in the area, which resulted in the officers executing the arrest.

He was charged with resisting arrest, and possession of an illegally sawed off shot gun, and will now wait to appear before a court.

The warrant was issued through Plains City Court and the arresting officers stated it was quick arrest with no major incident.

Chief Emmett also advised that because of the illegal possessions Johnson was allegedly found with, he will most likely by charged in other counties within Montana and also Wyoming and North Dakota.

ATF will also be advised of the illegal shotgun possession.

Johnson is currently being held in Sanders County Jail.

“It was a successful arrest between the Plains Police Department and the Sanders County Sheriff’s Office,” said Emmett.
