An Alberton family lost their home on Saturday, April 28, when a fire broke out that quickly devoured everything.

The Frenchtown Rural Fire Department, along with the Missoula Rural Fire Department and the Missoula County Sheriff’s Office, arrived at the home up the West Fork of Petty Creek shortly after 5 p.m.

The home belonged to Tracie and Todd Hoose who, along with their pets, escaped without injury. According to reports in the initial investigation, it appears to be an electrical caused blaze, with the investigation ongoing. A GoFundMe page was set up to help the family who lost everything, with a goal of $5,000. As of Sunday evening, $4,340 had been raised. The homeowners did have insurance but have immediate financial needs.

The Frenchtown Fire Department also responded to a wildfire on Thursday, April 26, just west of the Huson exit, where there was a wheel bearing mechanical failure on a semi-truck, according to department spokesman Mel Holtz.

It happened in the construction zone on Interstate 90 and burned a small stretch along the road. Holtz reminded drivers to slow down when passing an emergency scene to allow crews room to work. No injuries were reported.
